Crafted specifically for guzheng soloists in mind who need to commandingly play above the accompaniment, and yet be able to subtly perform all musical nuances. The Dunhuang 5698JT ‘Virtuous Nobility’ Yellow Sandalwood Guzheng is made with top tier Grade 1 Paulownia that has been airdried for the longest possible time. The treble is crystalline clear, with very solid bass and prominent mids. Silver wire inlaying is a highly tricky endeavor; one wrong step, and its exquisite symmetry will be ruined beyond repair. Under the hands of Shanghai Dunhuang’s veteran craftsmen, an art piece reminiscent of silk embroidery has been brought to life. Contrasted by a graceful bone inlaid design, the panels manage to stand out in a tasteful fashion, definitely the work of a seasoned master.
